This book is outstanding. It is incredibly efficient, in that the sections written are the major pieces of microbiology that a healthcare professional should know. I really wish this book was used instead of the text I had to use in my microbiology class.
Very comprehensive and well focused for healthcare. See All Buying Options. Manual of Clinical Microbiology 2 Volume set. Only 1 left in stock - order soon. Lots of information. Suggested for clinicians pursuing a career in microbiology.

I scratched off the code, and it worked perfectly. Only 2 left in stock more on the way. The way this book is organized is helpful in cognitively categorizing the organisms-- not all micro books do this.
For example, bacteria are organized into sections on Gram positive cocci, Gram positive rods, Gram negative rods, etc. There is a lot of general information on the characteristics of the biochemical tests used in the lab, and there are nice biochemical test charts for some of the groups of organisms, especially the Enterobacteriaceae.
The problem is that there is not consistency, as some of the other groups are lacking this information-- you get bits and pieces of information about the biochemical reactions for the Gram positives, for example. While the Gram positives are generally simpler to identify, in our class there was an unspoken expectation that we know the battery of biochemical reactions that were not necessarily in the book. The fungi section needs a lot of work, I think.
Clinical Microbiology Made Ridiculously Simple. The language is clear and concise and the cartoons, while they might earn you a few strange looks from other patrons at the coffee shop, are goofy enough that their contents really do stick with you. The layout is excellent, allowing ample space for you to add your own annotations if you choose. I looked at a couple of other microbiology textbooks out there, including [[ASIN Mim's]] and found this the Ridiculously Simple book to be vastly superior in terms of content delivery and exam review utility.
Recommended without any reservations! Introduction to Diagnostic Microbiology for the Laboratory Sciences. This book is written very well. I am very happy. And it came in a timely manner.
Only 10 left in stock - order soon. Great lab book!! There are numerous details in microbiology that have no rhyme or reason. How am I supposed to memorize all this? Yeah, it's not much. But, there really no other way to learn this stuff or most things in life I guess but just memorize them on your own. Now you just need to carry 4 tons instead of 5 tons. The cartoons help you remember I always read this book before reading the course material from the professor.Attribution CC BY.
This covers the basics of microbiology, starting with a brief history of microbiology and the impact microbes have had on humans.
The text covers the application of genetics in Microbiology research, microbial metabolism to provide a background on Comprehensiveness rating: 4 see less. The text covers the application of genetics in Microbiology research, microbial metabolism to provide a background on the function of microbes before delving into their role in diseases and human health.
This text is ideal for students planning to pursue a health related field. The book is missing several key words in the metabolism section, like lithotroph, chemotroph, and autotroph.
There is no mention of reverse electron flow in the section on phototrophs. The glyoxylate pathway is missing and there is no mention of Gibbs free energy. From a public health perspective, this book is missing a section on indicator organisms and how they are used for water quality monitoring. However, it does do an excellent job covering early epidemiologists John Snow and Florence Nightingale.
The immunology section was much easier to read and understand than my current textbook. The content is presented in an unbiased manner. The content provided is accurate, but their are errors of omission and errors of over simplification. For example, the nitrogen cycle is described as having only three steps: denitrification, nitrification, and nitrogen fixation. These aren't really steps, they are multistep processes.
There are many other steps in the nitrogen cycle that are not included here. The content will not become outdated quickly. How to get settled cash fidelity
It is easy to build on the content that is provided. This is both a strength and a weakness. With commercial text books, each chapter provides too much information and I can delete the excess info.
With this text book it would be necessary to spend time providing additional content to increase the depth.First bfp 8dp5dt
The content provided will not become obsolete because it is cursory information that is unlikely to change. It is easier to delete excess information than it is to produce new content to supplement the text. The latter option is probably a better education experience for students, but it is a substantial time commitment for faculty. This book is very easy to read, but I worry that it does not meet the academic standard necessary for an upper-level biology course at a 4-year college.
The textbook is highly consistent and easy to follow. One of it's advantages is how easy it is to read and the clarity of the diagrams and figures. The book is highly modular and it is easy to embed sections into the LMS for students to read.Lenoir county register of deeds birth certificate
The review questions at the end of each unit are also very thorough. The book follows the standard set up of other text books, beginning with a short history of microbiology, moving into the structure of a cell, how prokaryotes are different than eukaryotes, moves on to discuss genetics, biochemistry and metabolism, and finishes with microbes and human health.
It is logical and well organized. I really liked the interface. The online rendering produced detailed images that were in line with the text.Revised by a collaborative, international, interdisciplinary team of editors and authors, this edition includes the latest applications of genomics and proteomics and is filled with current findings regarding infectious agents, leading-edge diagnostic methods, laboratory practices, and safety guidelines.
This edition also features three new chapters on accreditation, Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex, and human herpesvirus 8. This seminal reference of microbiology continues to set the standard for state-of-the-science laboratory practice as the most authoritative reference in the field of microbiology.

Bacteria are then covered, first with a series of chapters presenting the general concepts of bacterial microbiology and then with chapters detailing the major bacterial pathogenes of humans. Similar sections cover virology, mycology, and parasitology. In each section, the introductory chapters stress the mechanisms of infection characteristic of that type of microorganism, thus providing the reader with a framework for understanding rather than memorizing the clinical behavior of the pathogens.Recursive rest api
The final section of the book Introduction to Infectious Diseases, is arranged by organ system and provides transition for clinical considerations. Accurate indications, adverse reactions, and dosage schedules for drugs are provided in this book, but it is possible that they may change.
